Non-Alcoholic Mulled Wine
This non-alcoholic mulled wine brings all the cosy spice and festive sweetness of the classic drink, just without the alcohol. It’s ideal for an evening gathering when you want something seasonal and elegant that everyone can enjoy. You can also serve it to children as a fun, warming treat during the holidays. And because it’s made entirely with grape juice, it has a natural sweetness that pairs beautifully with the spices.

Cuisine French
- 1 l grape juice
- 2 clementines peeled and broken into segments
- 10 whole cloves
- 3 cinnamon sticks
- 3 star anise
Place all of the ingredients in a saucepan and bring to a very gentle simmer on a low heat (you should barely see any bubbles).
Leave to simmer for at least 20 mins and up to an hour. The longer you leave the mulled wine on the heat, the more concentrated it will become.
- You can replace the clementines with an orange - simply peel and slice it before adding to the grape juice.
- If you leave the mulled wine to simmer for 1 hour, you will lose some of the liquid to evaporation. This will give you a sweeter, more concentrated drink, but there will be less to serve. In this case, I suggest serving smaller quantities - since the drink becomes very sweet most people will probably only want a small amount.
- Alternatively, simmer the mulled wine for 20 mins, turn the heat off and leave to cool. Refrigerate overnight so that the flavours have time to develop and reheat before serving. This way, you will not lose as much liquid but the flavour will still be very good.
