After a particularly full and busy weekend, I stepped into the kitchen on Monday morning to find that we were running low on just about everything. That’s when I decided it was time for a Monday Morning Kitchen Reset and Restock: Homemade Essentials. I don’t do this every week, but when the cupboards are bare and the surfaces cluttered, starting fresh feels like the best way to get the week back on track. In my latest video, Monday Reset | From Scratch Kitchen Restock, I take you through the steps I followed to quickly tidy the kitchen and replenish the basics we rely on. Below, you’ll find the homemade recipes I made that morning, along with links to help you do the same in your own home.

A Quick Kitchen Tidy-Up
Before diving into cooking, I spent some time clearing countertops, wiping down surfaces, and organising the pantry and refrigerator. This initial step made the space more inviting and a lot easier to work in! I find I am a lot more productive when I am working in a tidy space.
Homemade Yogurt
Yogurt is a staple in our household, and making it from scratch allows me to control the ingredients and consistency. I used my Instant Pot today, but, depending on your equipment, there are several methods to choose from:
- Yogurt Maker: A straightforward option that maintains a consistent temperature.
- Instant Pot: Convenient for larger batches and offers a yogurt setting.
- Oven Method: Utilizes residual heat to incubate the yogurt.
Each method yields creamy, delicious yogurt that’s perfect for breakfasts, snacks, or cooking.

Dairy-Free Whole Wheat Blueberry Muffins with Sourdough Discard
To make use of my sourdough discard and provide a wholesome snack option, I baked a batch of these dairy-free whole wheat blueberry muffins. They’re lightly sweetened, packed with juicy blueberries, and have a delicious, soft texture.

Homemade Honey Granola with Almonds and Pecans
Granola is versatile and easy to prepare. This version combines honey, almonds, and pecans for a crunchy, slightly sweet topping that’s perfect for yogurt, smoothie bowls, or snacking. We thoroughly enjoyed having this to hand all week!

Bone Broth
Bone broth is nourishing and serves as a base for many meals. Using the pressure cooker (or Instant Pot) significantly reduces the cooking time while still extracting rich flavours and nutrients from the bones.

Easy Homemade Mayonnaise with Avocado Oil
Homemade mayonnaise is fresher and free from unnecessary additives. This recipe uses avocado oil for a neutral flavor and creamy texture, making it a great addition to sandwiches, salads, and dressings. This week, we used it as a condiment for some Chicken Rice Bowls – it was so good!

Natural Fabric Softener Using White Vinegar
While focusing on the kitchen, I also took the opportunity to prepare a batch of natural fabric softener. There are just three simple ingredients in this recipe: vinegar, water and essential oils. Not only is this homemade solution gentle on fabrics and free from harsh chemicals, it is extremely easy to make and very kind on your wallet!

Additional Preparations: Ghee and Water Kefir
In addition to the above, I prepared some ghee for cooking and a batch of water kefir to support our probiotic intake.
Reflecting on the Reset
Taking the time to reset and restock the kitchen after a busy weekend has a profound impact on the flow of the week. It brings a sense of preparedness and calm, knowing that nourishing options are readily available.
